Mona Hedayati

Bio

Mona Hedayati is an Iranian-Canadian artist-researcher working across the fields of technologically-augmented performance, sound design, and sensory anthropology. Hedayati’s research encompasses the interdisciplinary field of Science, Technology, and Society (STS), aiming to reintroduce social context into scientific and technological practices that are often considered immune to social concerns. Her interest in this field stems from her lived experience as a migrant in exile, as well as her educational background in socio-political art and design, which seeks to foreground the embeddedness of lived experiences in socio-political-cultural settings that are inevitably shaped by technoscientific infrastructure.

Given the hybrid nature of her inquiry, Hedayati has presented her work internationally across a wide array of platforms, including Ars Electronica in Linz, the Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence in Darmstadt, Kunsthal Extra City in Antwerp, Body Electric Retrospective in Toronto, Fylkingen New Music & Intermedia Art Center, and the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, among many others. As an educator, Hedayati teaches courses at the MA and MRes levels on digital culture and critical theory.
